Commercial/Industrial Chimney Lining

Minneapolis – St Paul’s Choice For Industrial Chimney Liners

“ChimneyMost commercial chimneys were constructed without a liner system, although some were originally built better than others—given time they all tend to breakdown over the years. Designs in appliances vented through chimneys have changed, most masonry chimney were not designed to handle the venting requirements of modern appliances.

A lot of commercial chimneys and smoke stacks were built with multiple wythes of brick, meaning the inner wythe of brick may be firebrick—and the remaining wythes in the chimney are just standard brick. The exhaust gases from natural gas, oil, coal, and propane is very acidic. Additionally, the exhaust gases from these fuels produce extreme amounts of water. Mixing acidic flue gases with water creates an acid rain, which causes the chimney to deteriorate from the inside out. It’s not uncommon to find hundreds of bricks at the base, or in the clean outs, of unlined commercial chimneys. The masonry repairs on large chimneys and smoke stacks gets pretty costly, pretty quick.

Installing a stainless steel liner system protects the masonry chimney from the constant bombardment from acidic flue gases. A stainless steel chimney liner locks in the moisture created by the flue gases, and the stainless steel is impervious to the acidic nature of the flue gases. Doing masonry repairs to the interior or exterior brickwork on a chimney or smoke stack without installing a liner—is like letting your money go right up the chimney—the stainless steel flue liner protects the brickwork.
